The Mackie’s Crisps factory is growing – this time with new bulker storage bays & a conveyor belt.
This allows 3 bulkers containing 30 tonnes of potatoes to be unloaded around the back of our factory building. They are put directly onto a conveyor belt straight into the first stage of production, which is when the potatoes are sorted.
This new unloading area removes the transferring of the potatoes into wooden tattie boxes before they make their way into the factory, which in turn minimizes the handling of the potatoes, and the risk of bruising and agitation.
Our new system speeds up the whole crisp-making process and keeps the potatoes fresher so that we can get them from plough to pack even more quickly & efficiently!
